Founded in 1892, A.T. Still University provides flexible online education designed to fit the busy schedule of working professionals. ATSU offers online programs which prepare students to serve in a variety of healthcare professions. In addition, our programs were developed to enhance the skills and knowledge of those already practicing in the healthcare field. ATSU’s programs provide an interdisciplinary educational experience that opens the door to intellectual and professional advancement. ATSU’s longstanding tradition in health education is designed to meet the needs of the busy working professional. Our online programs are convenient and allow busy health care professionals to continue their education without interference in their personal or professional lives.

Programs Offered:

Doctor of Health Education:

A.T. Still University, School of Health Management offers a Doctor of Health Education degree that prepares the student to become a practitioner and leader in health profession education. This online program is designed to meet the needs of the busy professional. The D.H.Ed is a 12 to 18 course program depending on your educational background. The applied dissertation is included in the required courses. This program is designed to challenge students to examine the current state of healthcare education and their individual roles and responsibilities within it. Graduates will be recognized as innovative leaders in educating their patients, students, peers, as well as achieving excellence in policy development, program design, management, implementation, and evaluation of local issues.

Doctor of Physical Therapy:

The transitional D.P.T. program is designed for practicing physical therapists already holding a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree who wish to enhance their skills and professional status. The length of each student’s program of study depends upon their current level of education, experience, and skills as defined by the American Physical Therapy Association’s “Normative Model of Physical Therapist Professional Education, Version 2000” and a possible evaluation using the Physical Therapist Evaluation Tool (PTET).

Master in Geriatric Health:

A.T. Still University, School of Health Management offers a Master of Geriatric Health degree that prepares the student to be a leader in the field of Geriatric Health. Geriatric health care is one of the fastest growing specialties in medicine. The School of Health Management has anticipated this growth and has provided this specialized Master of Geriatric Health Management program to give our students an edge. Professional opportunities for graduates in the health management field are numerous and varied. The online program is designed to meet the needs of the busy professional. It is a 60 credit hour, 15-course program. Coursework will focus in such areas as leadership and management, geriatric healthcare law and ethics, epidemiology of aging, and business management. Students will also choose from three concentration areas: Vitalife; Case Management; and Internship.

Master in Health Administration:

A.T. Still University, School of Health Management offers a Master of Health Administration degree that prepares the student to be a leader in the field of Health Administration. Graduates of this program enter a fast-growing segment of the U.S. labor market. Health administrators are responsible for the business side of health care. They manage everything from facilities to purchasing to finance. As the health delivery system expands, and the pressure to provide additional services at reduced costs grows, the role of the professional administrator, even in clinics, is expected to also grow. The online program is designed to meet the needs of the busy professional. It is a 15-course, 60 quarter credit hour program that is tailored to the needs of the healthcare leader/manager by providing coursework in areas such as leadership, law and ethics, information systems, managerial epidemiology, and human resource management.

Master in Public Health:

A.T. Still University, School of Health Management offers a Master of Science in Public Health. The program prepares the student to be a leader in the field of Public Health and allows the student to choose a concentration that best fits their needs. This degree is a 60 credit hour, 15-course program. The general MPH track offers three areas of concentration: Health Planning; Health Policy; and Environmental Health. The Dental MPH track offers three areas of concentration: Leadership and Administration; Research Planning and Design; and Education. The M.P.H. degree focuses in public health areas such as epidemiology, education, administration, ethics, financial management and other areas.

Master of Health Education:

A.T. Still University, School of Health Management offers a Master of Health Education degree that will prepare the student to be a practitioner and leader in the field of health education. The M.H.Ed. is designed with an emphasis on teaching future or current health educators to use a systematic process based on learning theory to plan, design, implement, and evaluate effective program and course offerings along with in-depth pedagogical training thus enabling students to become better teachers, mentors, clinicians, and leaders. The audience for this program is varied by design and includes administrators, physicians, PA’s, nurses, and other practitioners. This degree is a 14-course program that offers five areas of concentration: leadership, research, teaching, medical education, and a customized concentration track. Note: This program is not intended to meet state certification requirements to become an elementary or high school teacher.

Master of Science in Human Movement (M.S.H.M.)

A.T. Still University offers this 14 course, 42 quarter hour Human Movement (M.S.) program which is designed to assist students in the development of comprehensive knowledge of human movement science, functional anatomy, physiology and kinesiology, as well as functional assessment and program design. Graduates of the ATSU Human Movement (M.S.) program will receive the highest quality education in human movement, performance enhancement, and corrective exercise through a flexible distance education format that enables healthcare providers and those practicing human movement, fitness, and wellness to gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to provide leadership in advanced human movement services. There are 3 concentration tracks to choose from: Sports Conditioning; Geriatric Exercise Science; and Corrective Exercise which is a partnership program between ATSU and the National Academy of Sports Medicine® (NASM®).

MS in Advanced Occupational Therapy Studies:

This 42 credit hour transitional program is for U.S. licensed occupational therapists who wish to learn about current issues and new procedures in the O.T. field. In this program, the student will focus on areas including critical thinking, issues in mental health, legislation, and evidence-based practice.

MS in Advanced Physician Assistant Studies:

This 40 credit hour program is for the licensed physician assistant. For the PA without a bachelor’s degree, a non-bachelor degree track is available. The program offers three areas of concentration: family and emergency medicine, forensic medicine, and education and leadership. Graduates of the program will have demonstrated a competence in their respective specialty area along with a strong academic foundation that enhances their ability to practice in a varied clinical and administrative setting.
